What makes a hero? What does it take to become one? One good example of one is George C. Marshall American War Hero! Now I’m going to give you my example of one. A hero is someone who does whatever it takes to help others even when they themselves are at risk, and a hero should be brave enough to stand up for what he or she believes in and do whatever it takes no matter what the cost, a hero should be strong so they can do enough for their cause without fault and not be afraid of threats against them or their cause, they need to be smart so they know what it takes and what’s at stake, like George C. Marshall had many accomplishments in life in the military which helped him to become known amongst the ranks of his fellow soldiers and higher ups. George chose a military career and he graduated from the Virginia military institute in 1902 and his first assignment was in the Philippines where he served as chief of operations of the first army and chief of staff in his military career which helped him later in his life when he was leading American soldiers to fight in WWII and I think his experience helped those soldiers which helped the world because eventually we won the war. Detroit: Historic World Leaders, 199”) His position in France at the American HQ is one of the ways his planning abilities were developed and he was known for his planning abilities and because of this they called him wizard which meant he was smart and he had lots of great strategic ideas and capabilities. George C. Marshall was promoted to the U.S. secretary of defense in 1950 to 51 for his work in WWII and he was awarded the nobel peace prize in 1953.(“George Catlett Marshall. Springfield: Merriam–Webster, 1995”) Because of his efforts in WWII that was why he was made the U.S. secretary of defence and he was awarded the nobel peace prize in 1953 and he got these awards because of his planning abilities and leadership throughout the war. George Marshall in 1938 a year before WWII He was appointed to manage the War Plans division of the army which is a part of his legacy and he was later chosen to be chief of staff during WWII but before WWII he was appointed to manage the War Plans division of the army.(“Historic World Leaders. Detroit: Historic World Leaders, 199”) Marshall was assigned to manage the War Plans Division of the army then next he was appointed to become chief of staff of the army which would help with his later efforts during WWII. Marshall's legacy was also left behind by how he was the Chief of staff of the U.S. army from 1939 to 45 and then he retired and he was general of the army in 1944.(“George Catlett Marshall. Springfield: Merriam–Webster, 1995”) Marshall was General of the army in 1944 which wih his strategic skills and abilities,and some people would think that it would help better America in the fight against the germans in WWII.
