When this show first began, entitled Martha & Snoop's potluck dinner party, it seemed like an idea that was just too crazy. The show included two people from completely different areas in business, with a rapper and a cooking expert. However, the show was a great success, with multiple sponsors, a large target audience, and the popularity of these two figures combined, along with other celebrity guests. The show joined one of Martha’s top-viewed productions, and the audience was in love with the idea. MSPDP drew 1.7 million total viewers and a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating for its Monday premiere. It was VH1’s top series debut since Stevie J & Joseline Go Hollywood in January.
