Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most dedicated Civil Rights Movement Leader. He helped desegregate the US and make people change their opinions on race and color. Also he was one of or the most influential people of the 20th century, but this came with a cost. Martin Luther King Jr. had to sacrifice many things like his time, power, and even his personal safety. Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta Georgia. His parents names were Michael King Sr. and Alberta Williams King. He also had one older sister and one younger brother, their names where Willie Christine and Alfred Daniel Williams King. Apart from being a renowned civil rights activist he was also took over a baptist church and turned it from a small dingy church to a great one. After all of this he joined the civil rights movement and became the leader of the The Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). He lead many movements like the Montgomery Bus Boycott, March on Washington, and also he gave the infamous i have a dream speech. What VanLieu is saying is that the civil rights movement would have happened but it would not have had the same effect if MLK was a leader. Because of MLK now we don't have an segregated schools, busses, cafes etc. We also see our fellow african americans as actual people and not dogs or animals. MLK taught us that race and color isn't everything and that you should like someone because because of their personality not their appearance.
