Heroism is defined as an act of great bravery. Exerting an excessive amount of bravery is challenging to anyone, and may seem like a task for the great and the rich. But, the many heroic people we hear about live average lives and are faced with ordinary obstacles that yearn to be overcome. Epic heroes are faced with dilemmas that not everyone could have the mindset to resolve, but epic hero's make it look easy. MLK wouldn't dare be seen with a bullet of sweat under his nose, even though in reality he was wanting to quit so bad, but he wouldn't do that the the people with the wrong mindset. Martin Luther King Jr. embodies the characteristics of an epic hero because he stood up for what he knew was right, and no matter what the consequence, he was bound to prosecute equality for everyone. Martin Luther King Jr. shows he is worthy of deeds of great strength and courage in unordinary and perilous situations King was able to take a stand for his beliefs and wasn't overcome by speaking in front of large crowds of people; “He showed signs of unusual …show more content…

As a final point, Martin Luther King Jr. took a stand at a time when no one else dared. Martin Luther King Jr. shows the Epic Hero Characteristic of Humility by being one of few to test limits when so many people wanted equality as bad as he did. King would “experience humiliation along with other members of his race” but he was one of the few to fight for his rights. (“Martin”).
