Martin Luther King had argued for urgency to move and change the segregation laws. King understood that no matter what this world does, there will always be people who judge other people about something about them. Whether that be race, religion, color, who they are. This world needs to be based around who they are as an individual and not what color their skin was.
King refers to a lot of biblical and historical terms as well to further address his claim about how he thinks segregation laws should be changed. He referred to new people as “outsiders coming in”. This is how people thought of people that were not their race. They were just “outsiders” about to enter “their” world. How would you like to grow up in a city where you constantly feel like you are not welcome anywhere at anytime. I sure as heck know I don't want to put myself or any children in a situation like that.

He looks back upon the Gospel to help him with his writing. He had mentioned about how “The Apostles had carried the gospel of of Jesus Christ” and now King has to “carry the gospel of freedom beyond his home town”. If King hadn't of put this piece of his writing out there then who would’ve ever known about this? No one would. No one would truly see the potential or see how much this actually means and how important it is. The laws of segregation had gotten changed because of King.
