In Mary Shelly’s gothic book Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein’s long lasting quest for the meaning of life culminates with his grandest accomplishment, which is the creation of new life. Despite his illness and agony, Frankenstein is unyielding in his determination to realize his dream. He is ruthless and uncompromising, meticulous and obsessive in his pursuit of his vision. When he finally creates his creature, Frankenstein proclaim in ecstasy, “After so much time spent in painful labour, to arrive at once at the summit of my desires, was the most gratifying consummation of my toils” (53). Frankenstein stays resolute in his impossible endeavor, never betraying or abandoning his mission despite the doubts and scientific limitations.
The feeling
