Mary Whiton Calkins, born in 1863, was one of the most influential psychologists of her time. She was the fFirst born to Wolcott and Charlotte Whitton Calkins in Hartford, Connecticut but spent most of her childhood in Buffalo, NY until the family relocated to Newton, Massachusetts in 1880 when she was 17 years olds due to her father’s job relocation.
