My name is Abidemi Olafusi. I attend Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. I am majoring in Transportation & Urban Infrastructure system which is an engineering field at Morgan State University. This program prepares students for professional positions in transportation planning, system analysis, management, and logistics. I am from Nigeria, Africa. I came to America in the year 2000. That was a good year to come because we entered a new millennium then and there was tremendous hype about Y2K.
As a kid, the importance of education as always been preached to me by my parents and relatives. Education is something that is taken seriously in my household. The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is a division of the Maryland Department of Transportation and one of the largest multi-modal transits systems in the United States. The MTA’s professional goal is to provide the citizens and visitors who come to Maryland with the highest quality public transit service. There are multiple branches in the Baltimore area but I was assigned to the Bush division which is located in downtown Baltimore on Washington Blvd. As a bus operation intern I was responsible for assisting with data analysis, monitoring service, and engineering support. I had duties dealing with daily filing of records, participating in variety of tours throughout the agency in order to network with other employees. Viewing daily operations process for the bus divisions and assisting in other areas as required. Mainly I was responsible for developing and implementing staffing plans to optimize the performance of our assigned division and analyze policies and procedures to improve efficiency among the
