Things change each and every day. But are things changing for children? Are toys causing a change in the way their lives are being shaped? Children are today have felt the effects of bullying, and judgment by the toys they play with and the activities they participate in whether they're boys or girls. However, the efforts made by toy manufacturers recently are becoming more and more effective in addressing gender issues. Toy manufacturers are now starting to produce products in multiple colors, and certain girl, as well as, boy companies is now starting to make toys for the opposite sex to reduce gender division in children by allowing the idea that toys are no longer specified by gender. They have launched a new commercial for their new doll, Moschino Barbie. A new commercial may not sound like a big deal, but there’s praise being given for Barbie’s excellent idea of casting a boy in the ad. BBC news wrote an article, The real story behind the boy in the Barbie commercial, which interviewed Scott, the man behind Mattel (the company that created Moschino Barbie) which said “The video celebrates how boys and girls alike play with Barbie - it's all about self-expression, fashion, imagination and storytelling," (Scott) The Moschino Barbie is just a start of allowing a simple idea that boys too can play with dolls without it looking frowned upon, opening new opportunities to kids to play as they please without feeling judged or getting made fun …show more content…
Toys we grew up playing ourselves. Life, and Monopoly are just to name a few. Toy manufacturers are contributing to these life long board games and even adding new ones into the mix for all boys and girls to enjoy, while adding parents in the fun.
