Death is a very important topic and has been approached by author’s several times in the past. Each author has a different view on death and that is expressed through their work. Two pieces of literature that focus on death are “Masque of the Red Death” by Edgar Allen Poe and "Do not Go Gently into that Good Night" by Dylan Thomas. In “Masque of the Red Death” Poe’s view on death is that it’s inevitable. He firmly believes that there is no point in defying it and that it can happen at anytime. Dylan Thomas’s view on death in "Do not Go Gently into that Good Night", is that you should live life to the fullest because death is inevitable. These author’s views on the subject of death are similar. Both authors agree that there is no way to escape death but Dylan Thomas says that it should live life to the fullest becaue you will die.
Both the pieces of work have the have a very similar theme of death

This story makes it very clear that death is the focus of the story from the very start. It tells us that there is a plaque going around at the start of the story. If this wasn’t an important detail the author wouldn’t have included it. It also has a very obvious symbol for life which is the rooms of the palace. Each turn has a completely different room. This room also represents death because it is black and the windows look into the hallway. This is just like how people look back on their life when they die. The Red Death, which is the symbol for death is able to go through all the rooms and kill all of the guests. It didn’t matter what room they were in they were still killed. In "Do not Go Gently into that Good Night". The theme is kind of obscure. Due to the line "Do not go gently into that good night", it makes you think that the poem is about fighting death and not accepting it(Thomas, 1). This can potentially mislead the reader whereas in “Masque of the Red Death” it is very
