Mass shootings are violent, scary and just plain frightening. Four years ago, an armed man trespassed onto a school property with three different firearms in Newtown Connecticut. It was a cold, chilly morning when Adam Lanza, 20 at the time, opened fire on school campus killing multiple staff members and children. This hasn’t been the only mass shooting since then. Having armed guards is a great idea. When an armed person is entering a heavily populated area, such as a school, the armed guards can use fire with fire tactics and take out the suspect that is about to take innocent lives. Schools are very vulnerable to gun attacks such as Connecticut in 2012. If staff members such as janitors, principals, and even teachers had a basic handgun in their possession in the classroom, it could have helped keep little children and even teens safe. Having Security guards overall inside and outside would help keep innocent lives safe. Metal detectors at all the entrances could be the key to keeping the hallways safe inside schools, offices, and heavily populated areas. When an armed suspect without a badge walks through the detector and it goes off, security guards can take down the person and hold him down until the police arrive to take him ‘downtown’. As he was younger, he had mental issues. The wrong thing his mother did though, was bringing him to the shooting range as a kid and leaving firearms in his possession. When he was old enough to leave the house with a firearm, he drove onto a school campus (This wouldn’t have happened if armed guards were at the front) with three different firearms and opened fire on innocent children and staff members. Children and even full-grown people with mental problems, should not be allowed to own any kind of firearm this resulting in going crazy and taking innocent lives.
