1a)Splott made a mistake on step 4, it added 4 when he was supposed to do the opposite operation and subtract.
1b) Fizzle made a mistake on step 6, instead of dividing both sides by 5 it added both sides by five.

Splott
Fizzle
2x + 4 = –3x + 14
2x + 4 = –3x + 14
2x + 4 + 3x = –3x + 14 + 3x
2x + 4 – 2x = –3x + 14 – 2x
5x + 4 = 14
4 = 14 – 5x
5x + 4 + 4 = 14 + 4
4 – 14 = 14 – 5x – 14
5x = 18
–12 = –5x
5x/5=18/5
–12 + 5 = –5x + 5 x =18/15

–7 = x

2) f(x)= -0.5x+1 and f(x)=3x-8
3) Both of my functions are legitimate functions because when you graph them they both pass the vertical line test.
4) f(x)= -0.5x+1

f(x)=3x-8 f(3)= -0.5(3)+1 f(3)=3(3)-8 f(3)= -1.5+1 f(3)=9-8 f(3)= -0.5 f(3)=1 For the first function, you first multiply -0.5 and 3 then you add -1.5 and 1 to get your answer.
F(x)=3x-8
F(3)=3(3)-8
F(3)=9-8
F(3)=1
For the second function first you multiply 3 and 3, then you subtract 9 and 8 to get your answer.
5) First, for the function f(x) = -0.5x+1, you replace f(x) for y, then you switch y with x and vice versa, then you subtract 1 from both sides, then you divide both sides by -0.5 to get x-1/0.5.
6)
