Freddy's Fender Bender Insurance Agency

I have just graduated from the University of Louisville. I am 23, an am now working in the insurance company called “Freddy's Fender Bender Insurance Agency”, who sells insurance to people of all legal ages. Depending, on the age, the price of insurance can vary. A chart has been made showing the price ranges for different ages:

First, I am going to find the equation that matches the table in the image above in two different ways to insure that the equation is correct. I am also going to write the equation in standard form and graphing form. For the first way, I am going to use matrices to find the equation of the table:

Next, I am going to use another method to find the equation of the table:

Now that I have the standard form and graphing form of my equation, I need to make a graph of the equation (hand written on graph paper).

Now that I have made my graph, I need to use my information to figure out the current insurance cost of my present age. To do so, I need to go back to the graph and find the number 23 on the x-axis, because the x-axis represents age. Next, I need to find the y coordinate that intersects with the number 23 on the x-axis, because the y-axis represents the price for insurance, in which the number I have found is 304.38. Now to put the points together, it ends up looking like this: (23, 304.38). Therefore, the cost of insurance for my current age, 23, is $304.38.

Since the cost varies for each age, it would be important to find the age that would have the minimum cost of car insurance. To find this in the easiest way, I need to refer back to the graph again. Since the graph is a parabola, in this case, the lowest point of the graph is the cheapest price. First, I need to find the y-value of the lowest point of the graph, also called the vertex, which is 193.5. Nest, I need to find the x-value on the x-axis that intercepts with the y-value of 193.5, which is 45. Now, to put those two coordinates together, it will look like this: (45, 193.5). Therefore, the age that has the minimum cost of car
