EXT. BOLIVIAN JUNGLE
A RESEARCH TEAM consisting of TIM FANNING, DR. JONAS LEER, LIZ LEER, UCLA STUDENTS, and US MILITARY SOLDIERS, is walking through thick brush.

The RESEACH TEAM reaches a small clearing. There is a strange stone statue none of them have ever seen before.

The RESEARCH TEAM looks nervously at each other.

CUT TO:
INT. BOLIVIAN JUNGLE – BASE CAMP – RESEARCH TENT
The sun is sets and it is dark. The RESARCH TEAM has set up base camp in a large clearing along the edge of the river. There is a huge rock formation with a cave set towards the top of the formation.

JONAS LEER gets up from his chair and follows his wife, LIZ LEER, out of the tent.
CAMERA PANS ACROSS base camp. It lands on the cave where hundreds of bats are pouring from the opening, crossing the river in the moonlit, starry sky. The camera pans down onto one of the tents at base camp.

INT. – BOLIVIAN JUNGLE – BASE CAMP – MILITARY SLEEPING TENT
Four MILITARY MEN are sleeping on cots. One of them (LANCE) has his bare ankle exposed from under his sheet. A bat lands on his exposed skin and bits him. It flies away leaving two small holes. A drop of blood run from one of the holes.

CUT TO:
EXT. – BOLIVIAN JUNGLE –BASE CAMP
DR. JONAS LEER is talking with one of the MILITARY MEN (DEREK).

The RESEARCH TEAM searches the area. They find the missing MILITARY MAN (LANCE) down the edge of the river. He is stripping his clothing off and there is blood dripping from his mouth.

THE MILITARY MEN form a protective ring around them. A figure falls from the tree. It is LANCE but his sink is black as if he was charred in a fire, his arms and legs grown to an abnormal length. His eyes glow green and his teeth are jagged like nails. He lets out another screech. With lightning speed, LANCE jolts forwards towards the group taking one of the UCLA STUDENTS with him into the brush. They are gone before the STUDENT could even scream. The RESEACH TEAM takes off running back towards base camp. LIZ LEER, DR. JONAS LEER, and TIM FANNING are the only ones to make it back to camp
