Religion plays a big part in how we spend our daily lives. It affects relationships between our friends, family, peers, and teachers. It affects what we do in our free time and even other people's outlooks of us. The Maya’s religious beliefs are much different then most Americans today. We might even view them as monster for what they did and believed in but to them it was how they survived. Many Americans today don’t even have a religious belief and their not expected to. Those of us who are religious worship our gods with time and love. Some Americans do believe sacrifice pleases the gods but they only sacrifice animals. Maya worship their gods with pain and blood. Maya believed that that sacrifice pleased the gods and would sacrifice both people and animals. The Maya even believed that without sacrifice the gods would force drought, famine, and war on the Maya. The Mayan Queens and Kings were expected to perform anual pain rituals. The Maya believed that the Maize God also known as the corn god was the most important after all corn was the most successful food item from the Maya. The Maya would consult their priests for the best day to hold an event. Maya sports and recreation would end in sacrifice. In conclusion American and Mayan religious beliefs are very different. While Americans believe sacrifice is not the answer Maya do. Yet both do sacrifice. So though we may see Maya as monsters and that they did unnecessary sacrifice they were doing what they thought had to be done just like we do. Mayans in fact did die of drought, famine, and war after the adventurers came when they did not allow Maya to do their sacrifices. So though the Maya are very different from Americans we both do what we believed would help us
