Write up 4 case study reports (one or two paragraphs each) on projects in Developing countries that have been successful in helping meet a specific MDG target. Your case study should tell me what and where the project was, who was involved, how was it funded and what were its impacts/results.

Goal 1: End extreme poverty and hunger Reduce the number of people living on less than $1 a day by half and reduce the number of people suffering from hunger by half.
Goal 2: Achieve universal primary education Make sure that every boy and girl in the world can complete elementary school.
Goal 3: Promote gender equality and empower women Work to make sure that girls can go to school and that women have the opportunity to make choices in their lives.
Goal 4: Reduce child mortality Reduce the number of deaths of young children by two-thirds.
Goal 5: Improve maternal health Improve the health of mothers before and just after their babies are born and reduce the number of maternal deaths by three-quarters.
Goal 6: Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases Fight diseases like HIV/AIDS and malaria that can be prevented and treated.
Goal 7: Ensure environmental sustainability Make sure that the environment is protected for people now and in the future. Reduce by half the number of people without clean drinking water and sanitation.
Goal 8: Develop a global partnership for development Help to create better, fairer business and trade opportunities that reduce poverty and help young people find employment.

Goal 3 and 7: India

UNICEF-assisted and Sanitation, Water, and Community health project have been helping young women by making five women from neighboring communities in the Rajasthan district maintain the villages’ hand pumps. The project has helped train these illiterate women in how to keep their villages’ water supply flowing. For taking part in the project the women are also given a salary.
The women who take part in the project said “people use to laugh” and them as “they didn’t think we could do what they said was a man’s job.” However the women were able to prove the m wrong and show them that with their skills and determination they were are to keep the villages water pumps flowing. By keeping the water flowing they have been able to supply the village with safe water for cooking, washing, and farming. The women’s success has helped to spread the project around India and the women also receive literacy classes. As well this project has helped women gain self-esteem.

Goal 6: Angola
To help achieve the goal of combating diseases UNICEF is seeking to immunize seven million Angola children between 9 months and 15 years. In Angola measles is the leading cause of vaccine-preventable mortality in Angola. Around 100,000 children die each year from measles around 30 children die each day from this disease. It is especially
