Melodramas is a sensational dramatic piece with exaggerated characters and exciting events intended to appeal to the emotions. The film “All That Heavens Allow” carries this definition throughout every scene in the film. Cary Scott is a widow mother who goes on this journey of falling in love and finding herself. By having children and living in an upper small talkative town, the emotions are high in which it making everything difficult to overcome for Cary. Moments in the film are exaggerating but as a melodrama that’s the norm.
