I was always aware that my pets would die eventually. I’d seen my pets die before, but I always had time to accept it, Hamilton was different. My brother found Hamilton on the side of the street as a sickly kitten. We didn’t plan on getting a new cat, but seeing how weak he was we couldn’t give him up. After feeding him and giving him the medicine he started to show the energetic personality we’d enjoy with for the next year. We realized something was wrong when he stopped going outside. At first Hamilton was simply lethargic, but still showed no signs he was sick. Eventually, his appetite decreased and we realized he needed to see the vet. Hearing the diagnosis was like my entire world crumbling around me, it was Feline Immunodeficiency Virus.
