In 2013, I was one of the winners of the Merino Scholarship, which helped me to pay my school tuition at San Jose State University. This year, the California Dream will be providing me less money for my school tuition. Due to the elevated cost of the tuition and the textbooks at SJSU, I am requesting additional help so that way I can pay for the classes and Textbooks that I will be taking and using during the fall 2015 semester.

With a great excitement, I want to inform you all that I have just finished my second year as a student at San Jose State University. I have to admit that these two years have not been easy, but due to my determination and motivation, I have moved forward with my studies and goals. I just finished with my General Education core classes. In addition, I passed the WST exam and for the fall 2015 semester, I am going to be taking the last four upper division general education classes. Nonetheless, one of the many classes that challenged me the most was public speaking. However, I have to say that being a college student is not easy. I personally have to sacrifice many things to be successful in school. For example, every day, I go to sleep at 2am in the morning because I spend a lot of time doing my homework, which include reading and writing assignments. Over the week, I sleep for approximately three to four hours per day. In addition, over the weekends, I do not go out because I am always doing homework or preparing my notes for the following weeks. It is really sad to see my family going to the beach, to the stores or going out for vacations and I always have to stay at home doing my school work. In some occasions, I feel that I am not enjoying life, but I know that at the end, all my sacrifices and my hard work will pay
