Texans were justified in declaring independence from Mexico. This is because the Mexican government has denied the lives, liberty, and property of the people and the Texans wanted to remember soldiers that died at the Alamo and fight for their rights they were neglected. First of all, when General Santa Anna became the dictator of Mexico, many citizens weren’t receiving important rights. According to the Texas Declaration of Independence, “The Mexican government has failed to establish any public system of education…” Lastly, after the battle at the Alamo, Colonel Juan Seguin delivered a speech at the burial of the soldiers.
