Mexico dodged a bullet with Hurricane Patricia. The storm had 165 mph winds when it first hit Mexico on Friday, but it was all in the areas of less people. So, the areas with high population were in the less damaging parts of the hurricane. When it had hit land, it was only 30 mph winds and was only considered a “ tropical depression”. Only a few building had been demolished, because the storm had weakened enough that most of the buildings were strong enough to stay standing. On Monday, the death count was a grand total of zero! Mexico was probably more threatened by the flooding, strong winds, and few mud slides then they were by the hurricane. Many places also had power outages. The United States has also been affected by the “ tropical depression”.
