In 1950, Bill Rosenberg opened the first Dunkin Donuts shop in Quincy, Massachusetts. Dunkin Donuts licensed the first of many franchises in 1955. Dunkin Donuts is the world's leading baked goods and coffee chain, serving more than 3 million customers per day. The distinctive competence of Dunkin Donuts is that it is leading in sales as far as the brand of coffee it sells, and it has companies overseas and around the globe. Strengths: For the full-year 2013, the company had franchisee-reported sales of approximately $9.3 billion. Dunkin Donuts announces plans for seven new restaurants in Phoenix, Arizona.

Weaknesses: Dunkin Donuts is in constant competition with Starbucks and other brand name franchises trying to beat each other out for who has the best cup of coffee.
