Michelangelo’s father encouraged him to go to school, however, that did not captivate his attention. In the article, Biography of Michelangelo, it states that “The young artist, however, showed no interest in school, preferring instead to copy paintings from churches and seek the company of painters” (Biography of Michelangelo). When Michelangelo was 14 he was taken as a student by Lorenzo de’ Medici where he had the opportunity to learn and develop new artistic techniques.
