Many people experienced the Middle Passage differently. Depending on what you do, you have a different point of view of the Middle Passage. The slaves had the worse treatment . The conditions for their lives were horrible brutal and disgusting. Slaves had to buy their own freedom after being shipped to the New World if they wanted to be let free. The conditions were horrible , many of the slaves died as they were transferred to the new world . Kids were separated from their parents and also forced into child labor. All for money. The ship’s crew who also worked on the ships experienced the Middle Passages in a good way to benefit them. They were the ones who took care of they slaves, and the ones that caused them their pain and suffering. There were also surgeons on the ships but their job were not to be good surgeons but to keep an eye on slaves that would get sick to throw them on the water. There was also the ship’s captain, The captain was the one who hired and managed the crew, who enforced a harsh discipline on the Africans on the Middle Passage. Lastly the people from the New World. They experienced the hard life like no one else through hardships and tears.. Slaves' treatment was horrific because the captured African men and women were considered less than human; they were "cargo", or "goods", and treated as such; they were transported for marketing. Slave punishment and torture was very common, as on the voyage the crew had to turn independent people into obedient slaves.
