Many people in our society cannot enjoy themselves as an individual because they have to do certain things as the society tell us. In the article “The Secret of the Starving” by Mimi Udovitch writes about eating disorder, anorexia and bulimia, which these young women in our society are suffering from on regular basis. Anorexia is an eating disorder where people want to lose weight by refusing to eat and bulimia is also an eating order where people eat large amount of food in less time, which results into guilt. Similarly, In the other article “We Need to Talk About Amy Winehouse’s Eating Disorder and Its Role In Her Death” by Kayleigh Hughes, shows how Amy Winehouse was a bulimic and she was living a life with an eating disorder. Therefore, these young women choose tough ways for their acceptance. Hughes writes, “Amy tells her mother about discovering a great new “diet” -eating and then vomiting - that allows her to eat without gaining weight” (1). Amy Winehouse learned to have a thin body for society’s expectation from her young age. However, the quote explains that she had fear from young age to fulfil society’s expectation. Whereas Williams says “She [Amy Winehouse] was a drug addict who wanted to enjoy life” (Williams). Williams is claiming wrong statement about all these young women because Amy was a popular around the globe therefore, she was forced to look as her fans wanted otherwise she would not success. However, it was easy for William to say that she was drug addict and wanted to enjoy life. On the other hand, in Udovitch essay’s Claire claims that “I kind of want people to understand, but I also like having this little thing that only I know about, like this little secret that’s all yours” (4). Claire suggests how she want people to know how she is dealing with anorexia, however, she does not want people to judge her about anything that she does.
