Mindset: The New Psychology Of Effective Learning

It’s well known that gifted child is good at learning very much. Some people believe that it is because of their innate ability of learning. However, some people attribute that into they have good strategies of learning. Do people study well only when they are gifted? The answer is no absolutely. There are lots of ways to learn effectively, and having a positive attitude, having a growth mind set and practicing are the three most important strategies to learn effectively. First, in order to learn effectively, having a positive attitude is very essential. Different people have different belief towards failure. The people who simply think they fail because of lacking ability could be unconfident even in the area that they are master in. On the other hand, people who attribute their failure into insufficient effort could have more motivation and are able to learn more knowledge. However, is ability really fixed? Why not all people could achieve their potential even they have the same talent? According to Dweck’s book “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success”, people who consider ability as a development character are more likely to explore their ability than others whom think it’s fixed. With a growth mind set, people will take the risk and would ignore failing because they think every error equals to a chance to learn. For others with fixed mind set put self-image first so these people only participate to the task which makes them shine. At this time, ability becomes “static” or “dynamic” because of those two different purposes, to show off or to increase ability. People who have a growth mind set believe that there is a room for ability to grow but others thinks ability is unchangeable.
