Minny is a maid that doesn't like to be told what to do or how to act and when treated like crap she serves it right back. Minny Jackson is a maid from the 60’s when African Americans were treated like lesser people. She has been a maid from a young age. Minny is also very outspoken which can sometimes get her in trouble. Minny has a husband named Leroy who she has five children with. She is also very skilled at cooking and can make just about anything taste good.
Minny has been a maid since she was fourteen years old. On her fourteenth birthday Minny quit school and started working she had to quit school and go work even though her mom wanted her to stay in school and go to ninth grade. Minny had no choice but to go work because her sister had a heart problem and her dad was a no-good drunk which left it up to Minny and her mom to work and take care of the family. On her first day of work Minny did what her mom told her, she used a plate and put it in a separate cupboard to keep it from the other plates and she didn't spank the child but when she was told to hand wash the clothes then put them in the washer. Minny questioned the lady and five minutes later she was out on the street on her way home with no job.

Minny has lost multiple jobs and job opportunities because she speaks her opinion at times when she shouldn’t. The longest job Minny had before Miss Celia was Missus walters. Everyone said the only reason Minny didn't lose her job with Missus walters sooner was because she could barely hear anything so Minny’s back talking wasn’t heard by Missus walters. Missus walters liked having Minny as a maid but her daughter Hilly Holbrook had a problem with Minny she accused her of stealing and not feeding Missus walters. Hilly lying about Minny made it so Minny had a difficult time finding a job after Hilly put her mom in a retirement
