Going through Mirkwood Forest proves Bilbo was right for the job and is a true burglar. The Mirkwood Forest is where everyone shows that they are a hero and can become a better hero. The Mirkwood Forest brought out the best in Bilbo. In the Mirkwood Forest, Bilbo names his sword, “Sting”, after killing the spiders that attacked him and all of his friends (the company). Not only does the company see him as a hero, Bilbo sees himself as a hero. Bilbo went in front of everyone, faced the spiders and said, “go on, go on. He shouted I will do the stinging.” (151) Bilbo proves to himself that he is a hero and he is a great one. Bilbo also proves the company that he was meant for the job. He knew he could save himself and all of his friends. Thorin had the least amount of trust with Bilbo and thought he was someone who is lazy. But Bilbo turned out to be a better person than Thorin is. Bilibo throughout the entire book was shaping into the hero he became. All of this is shown through all of the challenges Bilbo has faced. Bilbo first steps up with the trolls and finally shows what he is capable of facing the spiders. Gandalf was the only person that knew that Bilbo was the right hobbit for the job. Bilbo at first didn’t want to go on the adventure, but now he is someone who seeks adventure. In his family since he was more his “Baggins” side; as a result of the journey, he takes on his “Took” side or his “adventurous” side. Bilbo’s home “it was a hobbit-hole, and that meant comfort.” (3) Bilbo didn’t want to leave his comfort but if he didn’t he would never be the hero he is now.
