The speech of miss Polly Baker seems quite reasonable, although I am a little shocked that this wasn’t a real speech to begin with. This happens all the time, maybe not to the extent of Miss Polly Baker’s fictional speech but it does happen in today’s society. Women are judged when they have multiple children out of wedlock and yet it isn’t solely the woman’s fault. I found this piece interesting to say the least. Miss Polly clearly challenges the judges when she speaks of “Heaven”. I agree, what comes of them punishing her for her sins if she is already condemned to eternal fire as they believe.
