It was the first day of classes of the last spring when people saw him in the university for first time. He was that kind of guy with casual blue jeans and a simple blue T-shirt in the English 109 class. He had a formal haircut, black hair, and black sneakers. The color of his skin was a kind of brown and white and of his eyes were black. At first glance, it was difficult to discern if he was happy or if he was a serious person. At the beginning, people used to think that he was that kind of adult that is really serious and determined just to work. In fact, in his first semester, Robert proved to be a really good worker. When Robert came back from his mission almost three years ago, he was influenced by his mission president and parents in a way that changed his life completely. He was inspired by the example of his mission president to live the gospel. Robert said, “It was the first time in my life I saw a person that really lives the gospel.” However, Robert was not just motivated to increase his spirituality by his mission president, but also by his parents and Jesus. According to Robert, his mother is the greatest tangible example of love that he can see. Robert learned how to love through the example of his mother. Robert said, “She really shows that love with her sons and daughters; she knows how to love.” But the greatest influence of his spirituality is Jesus, Robert said, “I understand what Christ has done for me, I want to be like Him even though I forget it sometimes and then I remember it, I mean that is the reason because I live the …show more content…
People can see this application of the gospel in what Robert likes to do. Robert said, “What I enjoy in my life is the feeling of helping people. For example, in Pathway when a person contacted me, I helped him or her.” When you know that you can do something for a person, it is awesome. Also, Robert has learned to live the gospel in all kind of situations. For instance, there was a time when Robert’s coworkers started to make really bad jokes of his country. However, he did not react with revenge to those people, but he was calm and acted in a peaceful way.
