Everyone has their own vision of what heaven may be like. In Mitch Albom’s novel The Five People You Meet in Heaven, before you go onto your heaven, you must first meet five people in their heavens. Each person is somebody who’s life you have impacted in some way. The five people each teach you a different lesson that gives you an explanation as to why your life was how it was. Only after you understand your life can you move onto your heaven.
When I am to die, my heaven will be my own personal utopia. It would forever be a warm summer's day at a cabin on the Saint Lawrence River; One that is just like my Uncle Gary’s. The weather would always be in the high 70’s, with the sun shining and a cool North Canadian breeze running over the freshwater. Those people each teach a single lesson about the person’s life. If I were to be somebody’s “person”, I would be a person for my Nana Ray. Nana Ray was always close to my mother and I. Unfortunately, she passed away about a year and a half ago from heart failure while down in Savannah, Georgia. When I am one of her people, I would teach her about how people naturally are meant to care for people beyond themselves and their immediate family. When I was younger, Nana Ray would always take care of me when my mother was at work, as if I was her own. I can always remember her voice yelling at me to stop biting my nails and to say “please” and “thank you”. She would always put the needs of others before herself without even thinking of it. Even if it would somehow cause harm or damage to herself, she put others first. Many times she probably wondered why that was her nature, and why she didn't instinctively care for herself first.
