Mob mentality is when people are influenced by their peers to adopt certain behaviors. It is often used in a negative sense and is refers to the behavior of people to act differently with the group of which they are a part of. Leading to the likeliness of group violence. The negativity of mob mentality are usually caused when people let themselves do whatever they feel like without thinking of the unresting consequences, leading them to lose their individuality and self awareness. Mob mentality is an adaptation that has been adapted throughout history. When we are part of a group there will be a likelihood of subconsciously copy other because we will feel less guilty, burden, and responsibility. These factors can sometimes make a person feel that they can act a certain way in a group and there would not be the same consequences if he or she were to act alone. …show more content…
The Holocaust started because of the thousands and millions of anti semitism in Germany and the countries it conquered, propaganda, and the encouragement and leadership of political leaders. It's very difficult to comprehend or understand how such a large number of people were killed by ordinary people and how they can be so ruthless and inhumane. Even with the hatred these anti-Semitism had towards the Jews it wasn't enough encourage these average people to commit murder. But, when you put them altogether they can become a kill machine. For many it happened, they became murderous, because knowing that there would be greater anonymity that exists within a group and the distribution of responsibility.
