Describe: Andrea walked into the class room and she was crying, holding on to her mom. She kept saying, “Mommy, mommy!” As all the children were sitting for story time, she did not want to let go of her mom. Then a teacher went for Andrea and sat her next to her for story time. Andrea keep saying, “Mommy, mommy”, with tears and did not want to sit down. At the time all the children got their name and put it on the chore list, but Andrea did not want to get her name. Then all the children were dismissed for center tables and Andrea sat in a table. The mentor teacher would guide Andrea so she could do an activity, but she said, “No, I want Mommy.”

This way Andrea will know that we understand her feelings. By sides validating her feeling, I think it would also be helpful to have a scrapbook of her family and friends so she can feel them close to her. For example, she can have important pictures that could involve her mom, dad, and siblings. I consider that just how Andrea was drawing a picture for her mom, there can be more center table where the mentor teacher can explain where each child can draw pictures for their mom or dad.
Final Reflective Statement: Seeing Andrea cry over her mom made me remember me as a child because I would always cry when my mom would leave me at school. I felt sad seeing her cry because I could see all the sadness in her. It was like I wanted to hug her and tell her everything would be fine. The mentor teacher mention that she did not understand why Andrea was having this behavior because she would not do this before. Overall I learned that even though Andrea was sad, making pictures for her mom seemed to make her feel
