While going through the Self-Assessment, I discovered how much I failed in writing preparation. It is not as if I did not know the material. Much of my weakness evolved around personal obligations and time management. During my Masters studies, I took it for granted, that it would be a breeze to complete. I say this because as an undergraduate, class work came naturally and I took it for granted that the scholastic journey would continue to be easy. It took some time before I was able to realize my shortcomings and devised a plan to put things in order. A SWOT model is what aided in the completion of my Masters’ capstone and helped in organizing my data. It could take on a hybrid model approach that would require a willingness to step outside the existing ways of doing things; while creatively embracing tensions of values between various models (Bradshaw, Hayday & Armstrong, 2007). However, with implementing various models, the self-assessment could become skewed or misguided, in what methods of preparation and writing needs improvement. The idea is to improve on past mistakes and become more conscious in my errors and time preparations. Completion of a doctoral degree is more than an educational pursuit. This has become a personal goal of self-fulfillment. My passion is people and how to provide avenues of resources, in order for families to make it financially, in spite of their low-income households.
