Although this is a current statistic in Montana 1948, David, a grown man, recalls the story of his family secrets occurring in the summer of 1948. When his beloved babysitter becomes ill and releases the secrets of his locally praised Uncle Frank. Wesely the town sheriff and Frank's brother would have a stressful job as to decide if he should honor the family name or the law. The message Watson is sending in Montana 1948 is when such great power is placed under one name with several people contributing things can go wrong, because a member under the name could go against the belief you are standing for, causing someone to feel pressured to continue under the family name and go against the original beliefs, and everyone could have a different view on the situation.
