All authors have some type of recognition for their work, whether they award themselves, or someone recognizes their masterpiece. All awards have a meaning for dedication of labor for someone or something, even if it’s not for a book. This informational report will be about a famous author named Scott O’Dell, and what books he wrote and the awards/recognitions he wrote. He is a stupendous man who did incredible things for our country’s literature. If you're are ever to think about writing a book, buy one of his books and it will truly inspire you. The Newbery Award was named after John Newbery (“The John”), a man who was honored with the title of the “father” of children’s literature. John sold many different types of literature and other products, which gave him the name he is known for today ( “How”). The first ever Newbery was in 1922 by the ALA. It was honoring thee book called The Story of Mankind by Hendrik Willem (“First”). This is the first children’s book award in the world and is otherwise known as the Newbery and Caldecott Honor Books (“The John”). A man named Frederic G. Two awards including, the Pushcart and Best Net, honors famous anthology and the winner will be included in an e-anthology on the website (“7”). All awards honor different things such as, the EMMA Award honors humanitarian media excellence in the music and film criteria (“Book”). The Edgar Award is acknowledged as the most prestigious award in mystery. There is even an award for literature in the United Kingdom called the Man Booker Prize (“ Major”)! The last award I’m recognizing today, is the PEN/Faulkner Award for fiction which chooses only people who have their book published, or by commercial, academic, or small-presses (“7”).
