The Montgomery Bus Boycott was successful because African Americans were mainly involved in public transportation. When the boycott began, blacks stuck together and the transportation systems began to cripple. However, buses were not stopping in Negro neighborhoods. When the systems started to cripple, the whites were intimidated by the blacks because of their improvisations. The Negroes had three different methods in addition to the car pools, for moving the negro population: Hitch-hiking, Walking, and the transportation of servants by white housewives (Doc C). Whites began to blame the taxi drivers for destroying the bus company. The taxi drivers were the important success of the boycott because they helped keep the African Americans stick
