Moral panic is a feeling of fear spread among a large number of people that some evil threatens the well-being of society. In Malcolm X’s speech he states, “ but when a black man arms himself he is an extremist” (23:12) This quote illustrates the moral panic that is caused by the police and FBI when the Black Panther party begins to make efforts to stop the wrongful and senseless police brutality against African Americans. This notion that when a Black person is armed they become an extremist is completely absurd as in America you already have the right to bear arms. Throughout the documentary we get the perspective of Stokely Carmichael praising Martin Luther King Jr. for his peaceful and patience way of pretesting when it comes to the Government and White America. He goes on to express how he himself does not have the patience as MLK but should not be seen different as they both have the similar values. The United States government wanted to marginalized groups like the Black Panther Party for challenging the police and state governemnt for they way they modeled new social uplifing programs.in which they start up health care programs that the United States of America didn't set up themselves. A woman explains that, “The Black Panther Party tried to model for the community some of the possible solutions that were not capitalistic oriented like free clinic you could come here and get free medical care, or you send your children to us we will feed them for free and this idea of free breakfast is one of the legacies that has been adopted now.”(33:35) This idea that a poor Black Community could set up social care programs for the community made the United States Government look bad in the mainstream eyes while it just showed how those ideas could be compatible with
