How does Moralistic Therapeutic Deism define being human? “Moralistic Therapeutic Deism is about inculcating a moralistic approach to life. It believes that central to living a good and happy life is being a good, moral person. That means being nice, kind, pleasant, respectful, and responsible; working on self-improvement; taking care of one’s health; and doing one’s best to be successful.” (Smith) How does the bible define being human? Isaiah 58 provides a great description of how personal glorification or well-being is viewed by the Lord. He calls us not to personal gratification but that will be the outcome of pouring out our lives on his behalf. He has called us to loose the chains of injustice, to set the oppressed free, share our food with the hungry, provide shelter for the poor, to clothe the naked. If we do these things then our light will break forth like the dawn, healing will appear, our righteousness will go before us, and his glory will be our rear guard.
