Mr. Chiu's Irony In The Short Story 'Saboteur'

In a short story called, “Saboteur”, there are many ironic about Mr. Chiu’s arrest and here are some main ironies. One of the ironies of Mr. Chiu’s arrest is that he was arrested on his way home from his honeymoon. Moreover, his arrest was not because of his or his wife fault but accused by the police who should have protected him. According to the text, “As they were talking, the stout policeman at the next table stood up and threw a bowl of tea in their direction…, Mr. Chiu said, “Comrade Policeman, your duty is to keep order, but you purposely tortured us common citizens…”” As the text proved that the start of the argument was the two police men. When Mr. Chiu pointed out what was wrong, he was arrested for being public’s peace disturber.
