The first procedure Mr. Hester implements is assigned seating, which is effective. He implements a procedure to pass in papers. The procedure to pass in papers is effective because each student has a job and he informs each student of their job. While Mr. Hester takes attendance, he instructs his students to say, “Here” and look at the homework or around the room. He claps to quiet the class and the students repeat his clapping pattern. This method is effective because the students stop talking immediately and begin to clap. The students have a different assigned seat each day, which is effective because each student can work with different students.

He waits to correct a student after the class dismisses. He corrects her behavior but also gives her positive reinforcement—this is effective because he student is not embarrassed in front of her peers.
4. Was Mr. Hester effective in managing his class? Why or why not? Mr. Hester effectively managed his class because he gave them strict procedures and rules. He reviewed and implemented each procedure and rule on the first day, which showed his students that he is serious.
5. After viewing these videos, which (if any) procedures will you implement in your classroom? Why or why not? I will implement Mr. Hester’s procedure for turning in papers. This allows the students to remain focused and aware of their responsibility. I will also use his method to get his class’s attention by clapping. Clapping can be fun for second graders and can easily gain their
