He took up Bachelor of Science major in Hotel and Restaurant Management at the Lyceum of the Philippines University, Manila and graduated in 2007. He used to work in restaurants, kitchens, and hotels. Particularly, Mandarin Oriental. He was also a barista at the Starbucks coffee. Presently, he is teaching for already six years. Also, he is studying his master in International Hospitality in the same university. Cruz’s initial course back then was nursing. But when he was taking his nursing examination at the University of Santo Tomas, he thought to himself that if ever he will pass the examination he will be studying nursing and he will end up working in the hospital. Then, that is the time he realized he did not want to work in hospitals considering he finds it as a sad place. That moment, he also found out that he wanted to work in the hospitality for the reason he finds hotels as a lively place, far different from hospitals. Based on the interview, Mr. Cruz’s inducing about hospitality industry is quite positive. For him, working in a hotel is a very interactive profession. He did not find it that stressful since the ambiance of the place is elegant, classy and he also mentioned that in five-star hotels they show sophistication and elegance. As mentioned earlier, he sees hotels as a lively place since you get to interact with people on a daily basis, you get to talk to different nationalities and other personalities.
