I think that Philip will win the case, because it is his right to show respect to our country in any way he wants to. He was humming not singing which proves Mrs. Narwin a liar which will cause Philip to most likely win in court. Here are three examples of textual evidence that show Mrs. Narwin was lying. First, “We were about to begin. In fact,we usually begin by singing the national anthem. Maybe you’d like to lead us in that? Phillip- I don’t know the words.”(Avi. 21) By this quote you can infer that Mrs. Narwin was lying about him singing the whole time. Phillip at most was humming, which is a common thing that people do when the Star Spangled Banner comes on. Second, “Right. Humming. That’s all I was doing. I mean, not loud. Soft.” said by Philip. (Avi. 53) This proves that Mrs. Narwin was wrong for lying and saying that he was singing. Lastly, Mrs Stewart says “Creating a disturbance by singing the National Anthem?” then Mrs. Narwin says “ We have a rule…” (Avi. 113) This once again is a lie to cover the fact that the media is right and Philip shouldn’t have been suspended. …show more content…
Narwin is wrong. First, “ I didn’t think it was wise to suspend him.” said by Mrs. Narwin. (Avi. 142) This shows that she regrets suspending him, because now she is getting a ton of hate mail.Second, “ Do you allow singing?” said by Mrs Narwin to Mr. Paleni. (Avi. 50) Here she is lying again and needs to get her facts straight towards the principal so he can have a reliable response. Lastly, “Phillip is that you singing again?” said by Mrs. Narwin.
