MTV is also a channel that has a personal appeal that cable networks, advertisers and artists look for. Advertisements for competing cable channels can be seen on MTV. Product placement in some of their original programming is also apparent. New artists understand the magnitude MTV can have on their career. The success of previous artists associated with MTV is an obvious testimonial to its influence. Weaknesses: The weakness of MTV is that it caters to instant fleeting interests. Therefore, MTV is bound to fall in position because it is difficult to identify and cater to all new interests and needs. Even after MTV identifies new trends and wants, it has to be careful to choose wisely what ideas it develops. Too much diversification in programming can be just as detrimental as ignoring new ideas completely. Opportunities: The evolution of technology may present an opportunity for MTV. Information technology can provide MTV better solutions in determining what the market demands are. MTV may enjoy visibility in wireless technologies allowing the market to actively participate in the network daily.
