The trait theory that I will be using to describe Muhammad Ali is the essential approach. I will use the Big Five factors of personality, which are Openness, Conscientiousness, Extroversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism, to access how high or low Muhammad Ali is in each one. Although many fans of Ali think they have seen the surface of his personality, I will demonstrate some of the most important traits by using the O.C.E.A.N assessment. First, for the openness to experience I found that Ali was high in this category. I think he is high in this category because he didn’t only do boxing he also acted in a movie and a musical. Ali enjoyed leaving his comfort zone, which was boxing to pursue doing more creative things like a musical. He was open to expand on his acting career during his life. Ali was very motivated in being not the best but the greatest. Ali was an ambitious person because he was acting and boxing at the same time. He was self disciplined because according to the website muscle prodigy.com, Ali used to have an intensive training routine, that involved him waking up at five in the morning and running for six miles. Conscientiousness is also related to being successful which he was as a professional boxer. Similarly, for extraversion I discovered that Ali was high as well. In many fights he would hype up the crowd and seemed like he gained energy from it. Ali was always loud spoken and friendly to his fans and interviewers. Ali had a reputation of being overconfident in his abilities as a boxer. Being high in extraversion would explain his assertiveness in his profession and skills as both a boxer and actor.
