Collaborating with Specialists “The Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team is part of the evaluation and re-evaluation process to determine eligibility for special education services” (Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET)). The team can be made up of a number of different teachers and specialist. This paper will talk about the specialists that should be on Scotts MET team. This paper will also focus on how the specialist should collaborate with each other to form a good unbiased decision.
The Case Study From the case study we can see that Scott is a first grade student that is having some difficulty in school. He is being disruptive in class and is hitting and kicking other students and teachers. It is due to his behavior in class and at home that he has been brought up for evaluation. According to what we know his mom had requested an evaluation when Scott was three years old. His mom had requested the evaluation at the time due to the same reasons. At the same time though Scott did not receive early intervention as his parents turned it down. It is because of his behavior

Other individuals that should also be on his MET team are the school principal, his general education teacher and the special education teacher. According to research “multidisciplinary means that the evaluation group is made up of qualified people who have different areas of training and experience” (Multidisciplinary Evaluation and Assessment). Each member becomes a very important part of the team as they all put their own expertise to work in forming the evaluation on Scott.
