Multigenerational Conflict In The Workplace

Our group chose to research on the topic of multigenerational conflict because diversity has grown rapidly within today’s workplace and can be readily seen in regards to the age of the workers. Furthermore, for the first time in history there is a merging of four different generations employed in the workplace (Mrazek, 2015).These four generations consists of the Traditionalists (before 1946), the Baby Boomers (1946 - 1964), Generation X (1964 to 1984), and the Millennials (1984 to 2000) (Farner & Stark, 2015).
Problem Statement
According to an article produced by Integral Leadership Review, ten thousand Millennials turn 21 each day, while 10 thousand baby boomers retire each day. The U.S. workplace is continuing to become more diverse

Not only that, according to Pew Research Center, in 2015 more than 33 percent of workers today are millenials. With that being said millennials have also surpassed Generation Xers within the workforce. Studies show that, a lot of millennials are entering the workforce straight from college, and not only are Americans are entering the workforce, but another contributing factor with the increase of millennials in the workforce today is immigration. “Immigrants coming to the U.S. are disproportionately in their young working years. Relatively speaking, few immigrants come to the U.S. during childhood or during older adulthood. In the past five years, over half of newly arrived immigrant workers have been Millennials.” (Fry,2015) It makes sense that millennials have surpassed Generation Xers in the workplace because there is roughly 50% more millennials than Generations Xers. To add to that statement, millennials are also within their prime stage of entering the workforce with the oldest being 36 years old and youngest being 17 years old, and within the next upcoming years millennials will definitely be the dominant workforce in today’s working
