When I think of multiracial, the first thought that comes to mind is confusion. I say this, because society tells a mixed ndividual that is half black and half white that they are not white, because of the 1 drop rule. This leaves them confused. Although in reality they’re half and half of both races. I interviewed my mixed cousin about her race identity. She is mixed with Italian (father) and Somali (mother). Her complexion is light but when people see her, they assume she is a light skinned black girl. She feels as if she is not really Italian because of how society perceives her. Society judges her based on her physical features rather than her genes.
