1972 munich Olympics
Billed as “the games of peace and joy”, the 1972 olympic games were the biggest and most expensive ever mounted. It was the largest amount of athletes to ever participate for their countires then any sporting event preceding it. (simon reeve 2011) west german officials had fought furiouslt to bring the games to munich. The officials has hoped the holding the event in germany would affirm Germanys rehabilitation as a civilized society (reeve.) they aimed to foreshadow the memories of wwII and the 1936 berlin Olympics where hitler when above and beyond to glorify nazi ideaology.
