Mutagenesis is a laboratory technique that means creating mutant genes, mutant proteins, or other genetically engineered or modified organisms. It is really an important technique because when a gene is mutated deliberately that helps studying and investigating its function in details. However, there are several methods have been developed for generating mutagenesis. The first method is the radiation, which can cause random mutation. It can be done by using UV light, X-rays or gamma-rays. The gene can be altered because UV radiation usually leads to the formation of thymidine dimers within DNA.
The second method is conducting PCR. It can be done by using doped nucleotides in oligonucleotides synthesis, which helps to promote misincorporation
